Daniel G. Kougias, PhD, DABT

Senior Supervising Health Scientist

Photo of Daniel G.

As a board-certified toxicologist, Daniel quantifies dose and health risks from exposure to a variety of everyday chemicals such as those in pharmaceuticals, personal care products, pesticides, and medical devices. He’s drawn to clients facing unique and technically complex questions of chemical and product safety.

Daniel has experience in applying in silico methods, managing and evaluating toxicity studies, and performing weight-of-evidence systematic reviews. This experience is valuable for supporting efforts where empirical evidence is limited or scientific data are commonly overinterpreted or misconstrued.

Daniel previously interned at Abbott Laboratories while he finished his PhD in neuroscience. His dissertation examined the developmental neurotoxicity of phthalates. He also held a National Institutes of Health traineeship in endocrine, developmental, and reproductive toxicology.

When he’s not evaluating technical scientific matters, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family, reading sci-fi/fantasy, and working out.
